Large tract of Wilderness Area managed by the Monongahela National Forest. To the E ca. 0.5 of a mile is Rt. 150. Surrounding the more open rocky community is a spruce / Kalmia woodland. There is a large tract of spuce forest NE ca. 0.25 of a mile. To the NW is likely spruce - yellow birch, to the S more spruce / heath forest and woodland.;Open sunny woodland dominated by Betula alleghaniensis - Acer rubrum - Sorbus americana / Lycopodium spp. / lichen covered sandstone. The rocks range in size from 0.1m x 0.1 m to 1m x 1m. Are was likely spruce forest in the past, prior to logging and burning. Charcoal stumps observed in the plot. There is Picea rubens within the community but they are somewhat scattered. Deer scat found in the plot. Deer entered the plot as I was packing up. Heavy browse on low shrubs.
